Personal Information

Jurua Bridget is the second (2nd) born to the family of 4.  She lacks basic things, such as shoes, a bed with bed-sheets, and blankets and has almost no clothes. Jurua’s mum, a widow, has been unable to find work due to her refugee status. Her mum is too poor to pay for basic needs, let alone school fees. Therefore, Jurua’s mum provides her family with an infrequent support she gets from her relatives and neighbors.

After her family escaped from a South Sudanese war in 2015 where her dad fell, Jurua, her mum, and three siblings lived in Bulonde slum, an outskirt of Kampala, Uganda. Jurua’s mum does odd jobs for survival. Her starving children do not attend school because her mum does not have money to pay school fees. In Uganda, parents or guardians must pay school fees to fund school buildings, books, writing materials, school meals, and uniforms. Before she dropped due to unpaid fees, Jurua went to a boarding at Rubaga Martyr’s primary school where she attended P.3 (3 years primary education).

Jurua needs your love and support, so she can go to a boarding school, have regular nutritious meals, and escape a lifetime cycle of poverty.  She wants to be a nurse when she finishes her schooling. She is a bike rider and frisky teenager.
