Personal Information

Christine Juma became a refugee at (10) years old after her father was kidnapped in an SPLA-IO attacked in South Sudan. Her mother survived high blood pressure due to no means of supporting her family. She lives in extreme poverty with her siblings and single-parent mother in Uganda. She is a good student, loves to study English, and has so much potential. Please sponsor Christine, so she can go to boarding school and escape a lifetime of poverty.

After war displaced Christine, she moved to Kampala, Uganda, to live with her single-parent mother and siblings. When her mother developed high blood pressure two years, she moved in with a South Sudanese family headed by a single mother, Mama Rose. Mama Rose is scarcely able to support Christine and her own four children selling charcoal. Her hand-to-mouth enterprise does not cover her household’s basic needs, and her four children do not go to school due to lack of money. In Uganda, parents or guardians must pay school fees to fund school buildings, books, writing materials, school meals, and uniforms.

Christine helps in the home by vacuuming the house and cooking for her host family. Sometimes, she works as a babysitter to buy herself clothes. She dreams of becoming an engineer and moving away to a better life. Your monthly support will pay her school fees; provide her with food, clothes, and medical care; and give her a ticket out of poverty.
