We wish to purchase one additional basic block-making machine hand press, which presses special interlocking blocks from a mixture of soil, and cement. These blocks can be stacked onto each other and no mortar is needed, which will keep building costs down. A concrete ring beam is constructed which holds all of the blocks together. We will use this for future school, and healthcare centre building projects. One of our donors funded one in 2008.
We accept donations in these units: $5, $10, $20, $30, $40, $50, $100, etc.
$ 540 pays for transport and custom duties
$1,560 pays for one hand press making machine
Onura Primary School is the only school available to accommodate about 415 out of 2018 school-aged children in Lofiriha Boma. The government of southern Sudan pays the salaries of two teachers who have to teach 415 but the school does not receive fund for running costs. The school needs notebook, a ruler, pencil, a pencil sharpener, an eraser, paper, crayons, and safety scissors.
We accept donations in these: $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, $100, etc.
$10- Help provide a dozen of pencils.
$25- Help provide full backpack with school supplies and essentials to one child.
$50- Help provide full backpacks filled with school supplies and essentials for 2 children.
The local new nursery school at Onura sub Boma has virtually no toys, books, pencils, crayons, paints, etc. We need funds to pay a local wood carver to make and maintain wooden toys for the nursery school. We are currently assisting 1 nursery school with about 300 children age 4-6.
We accept donations in these in these units: $5, $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, $100, etc.

$200 pays for a set of wooden toys made locally
$1000 pays for two sets per nursery school

We need – ongoing funding to pay the salaries of six women’s teachers at Onura primary and nursery schools. These teachers supplement the two Government paid teachers who would otherwise have to teach the 415 pupils on their own.

$50 pays for one teacher for one month
$600 pays for one teacher for a year
$3,600 pays for 6 teachers for a year
ChooseAneed is currently fund raising for this project: www.chooseaneed.org
This school will be located in the beautiful area at the slope of Onura hill, and we have started with making access road and clearing the site since last January 2009. We will build one classroom and a pit latrine when the funding becomes available.
The local community has started moulding the interlocking soil blocks with hand press machine we bought locally from South Africa. A team of 8 people will prepare the soil; mix with cement and press 360 soil blocks per day. it is a very economical method of construction as over 50 soil blocks are made from five wheelbarrows of soil and one bag of cement, and then very little cement is used when building the walls.
The local Chief of Omilling sub Boma has asked the community to contribute funds towards the construction of the school, and the community will also be making 70,000 burnt bricks during this dry season for the foundation of the classroom, and pit latrine toilet (phase one), and finally (phase two) etc.
The United Nations Millennium Development Goal for every child to complete primary school remains a dream in Onura Sub Boma of Sudan. For families who can’t afford even minimal school fees or the cost of books or uniforms, the chance for an education is a great privilege- and one for which they are willing to make great sacrifices. Children in many parts of these rural communities face incredible obstacles in getting an education. In Omilling Boma Sudan, children must walk 70 km to and from school each day. These children long to have their very own school build in Onura Sub Boma.
We face the opportunity of a life time. Please support US in Giving Sudanese Marginalized Omilling kits a chance to Succeed.
Thanks to ChooseAneed, HOPE Ofiriha, a Sudanese –based non-profit organization, is facing a tremendous opportunity to better the lives of children in Onura sub village Sudan.
