Integrated Vegetable and Livestock

Integrated Vegetable garden and livestockFunds are needed to set up two integrated vegetable gardens — one at the primary school, and other for women’s group in Onura Sub Boma. These gardens will be an example to teach the community about improved food security and improved nutrition.

Soil Block Making machine – hand press

Soil block machineWe wish to purchase one additional basic block-making machine hand press, which presses special interlocking blocks from a mixture of soil, and cement. These blocks can be stacked onto each other and no mortar is needed, which will keep building costs down. A concrete ring beam is constructed which holds all of the blocks together. We will use this for future school, and healthcare centre building projects. One of our donors funded one in 2008.

Onura Primary School Running Costs

Children of Onura primary schoolOnura Primary School is the only school available to accommodate about 415 out of 2018 school-aged children in Lofiriha Boma. The government of southern Sudan pays the salaries of two teachers who have to teach 415 but the school does not receive fund for running costs. The school needs notebook, a ruler, pencil, a pencil sharpener, an eraser, paper, crayons, and safety scissors.

$25- Help provide full backpack with school supplies and essentials to one child.
$50- Help provide full backpacks filled with school supplies and essentials for 2 children.


Toys & Other Supplies For Onura Nursery School

ToysThe local new nursery school at Onura sub Boma has virtually no toys, books, pencils, crayons, paints, etc. We need funds to pay a local wood carver to make and maintain wooden toys for the nursery school. We are currently assisting 1 nursery school with about 300 children age 4-6.

Salaries for six Teachers

We need – ongoing funding to pay the salaries of six women’s teachers at Onura primary and nursery schools.  These teachers supplement the two Government paid teachers who would otherwise have to teach the 415 pupils on their own.

HIV-AIDS Awareness Programme

This patient suffers without getting medicines for treatmentHIV-AIDS is a huge problem in rural communities of Omilling Boma – Magwi County Sudan. We want to introduce a hard – hitting awareness campaign. This initiative will particularly focus long Omilling villages. These communities were badly affected during the presence of LRA in the rural areas. It is common for young girls to have sex with local men in return for false love without protection. LRA imported these bad habits in Omilling Boma.

Public Health Education Campaign

HOPE Ofiriha will be paying for two Health Surveillance Assistants to visit Omilling rural Bomas each month to give two hours talk – follow by one hour question and answer session on a variety of Public Health issues on HIV, malaria, nutrition, and including personal hygiene, etc.

We will be purchasing medicines from Juba Pharmacies and then re-sell this to patients at Omilling Boma at no-profit by a train local nurse volunteer to ensure constant supply of medicines. This money is then use to purchase medicines for coming following months. We need more fund for additional medicines and training to expand this program.

Microscope for Malaria Testing

Miscroscopes for Malaria Testing needed at Loheru postWe urgently need to purchase two microscopes so that patients at Loheru healthcare post can be tested locally for malaria. At the moment there are no testing facilities available at health post, and malaria treatments are given out to every body who shows symptoms of malaria even though they may be suffering from some other diseases.
